As we all know, the 2020/21 Premier League campaign is set to start on the 12th of September, 2020 and expected to end on Sunday, 23, May 2021. As usual, we have 20 teams campaigning for this prestigious title or at least a place to remain in the league table or for a European spot while the bottom three will be relegated to the second tier of English football tagged Sky Bet Championship.

The promoted teams are Leeds United, West Bromwich Albion and Fulham, after respective top flight absences of sixteen years, two years and one year. They will replace Bournemouth, Watford (both teams relegated after five years in the top flight), and Norwich City (relegated after only a year back in the top flight).

Today, we will shift our focus on the three teams we think are likely to be relegated.

Without wasting much of your time, let’s start.

(1) Aston Villa

After a last day relegation battle in the just concluded 2019/20 campaign against Watford and Bournemouth, they just about kept their place in the Premier League for the 2020/21 campaign after picking 8 points in their last 4 matches. A feat led by their talisman, Jack Grealish. After much speculations about his future at Villa Park, I think he will remain a Villa player. Conceding 67 goals which is the second highest number of goals to be conceded after Norwich, their defensive record doesn’t look too good. An area, I think they need to work on. Like most teams will do, new signings are expected to strengthen the squad. Offering little going forward, having scored only 7 goals in their last 11 league matches. Take away Jack Grealish from the squad, the team has no creativity coming from other players. Not like they are a pragmatic side, they try to play flair football but with little creative players to achieve that style. I think they will struggle to remain in the premier league this season. A struggle they might lose.

Aston Villa to be relegated is currently at 2.65 Odds in Bet9ja

(2) Fulham

Gaining promotion to the premier league 2018/19 campaign, they made some notable signings bringing the likes of world cup winner; Andre Schurrle, former Liverpool forward, Ryan Babel, Calum Chambers from Arsenal on loan, Sergio Rico from Sevilla to name a few. They spent 100m pounds on 12 different faces to bolster their squad. A strategy that clearly didn’t work as the players struggled to find their rhythm playing as a team. A season that saw them relegated after finishing in the 19th position conceding 81 goals and earning 26 points. Three different managers were called for managerial duties for that season with the latest Scott Parker saw them relegated and now, has brought them back to the premier league after finishing 4th in the Championship earning a place in the play-offs against Cardiff and Brentford for the semi-finals and finals respectively.

Losing 11 matches, conceding 48 goals in the Championship just before the playoffs, Fulham doesn’t look strong defensively and it might affect their EPL campaign seeing them fight for relegation.

Fulam to be relegated on BetKing is priced at 1.95 Odds

(3) West Bromwich Albion

A team managed by former West Ham manager, Slaven Bilic gained automatic promotion to the EPL after finishing 2nd in the Sky Bet Championship. Over time, Championship teams that has gained promotion to the Premier League playing in a pragmatic style has somehow managed to retain their spot in the EPL. This can be seen with the likes of Burnley, Wolves, Sheffield Utd., Newcastle and so on… West brom used to be identified with their pragmatic style of play under previous managers but with Slaven Bilic, they have introduced a bit flair to their game thus making their defense vulnerable. Although, they have the third best defensive record in the just concluded Sky Bet Championship campaign, I strongly believe they do not have enough fire power and squad depth to remain in the Premier League thus leaving them fighting for relegation.

West Brom to be relegated is priced at 1.90 Odds in BetKing
