Former Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has confirmed he has held talks with West Bromwich Albion about their vacant manager’s position.
The Magpies head to the Hawthorns on Tuesday night looking to end a run of four Premier League games without a win.
And after confirming his interest in the role, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that it could be Pardew’s first game in charge.

Gary Megson oversaw West Brom’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday, but Pardew told Sky Sports that he had talks with the hierarchy at the Hawthorns.
“I’ve had discussions with them, obviously it’s an attractive job, so we’ll see where it goes,” he said.
“I think it’s a club who have a really good set of players, I think it’s a good opportunity for a manager. If it’s me, it’s me.

“I think they’ve got good quality in there and maybe they should be doing slightly better than they are.
“I think looking at them and the depth of the squad, I think it’s definitely got improvement in there.”
Pardew is the bookies’ favourite to succeed Tony Pulis, who was sacked last week.
Meanwhile, caretaker boss Megson admits the point against Spurs has whetted his appetite for a return to management.
Megson, a former Newcastle midfielder, said: “I did consciously decide two or three years ago that if I wasn’t getting jobs I would go travelling, play golf, that’s what I’ll do.
“The previous 18 months before that I was trying to get jobs and it wasn’t happening. So this has whetted my appetite again. I enjoyed being out on that touchline. I think I’m good at it
